Welcome to our Winter Season 2017/2018!

Dear Members, Dear Friends!

Autumn is upon us once again and before we know it, it will be Christmas. The committee has been putting “thinking caps” on to produce an interesting programme for you.

2017 is the 200th anniversary of the English novelist Jane Austen. Her books have been translated into many languages and many have been filmed. A special evening will be devoted to Jane Austen. You probably didn’t know that the Alpen Verein ( ÖAV ) has a British Section? You’ll hear about this from a London committee member himself. Vienna’s English Theatre is coming as always. The New Year will open with another talk from our English cyclist ( NO, not me !) who has recently cycled from the North of Scotland to Land’s End in England.

Remember that your membership card gets a reduction at Metropol Kino and Studia Bookshop.

Our library has very many new books and it often feels lonely when people do not borrow these books.

The 3rd Austrobrits trip to England will be from Saturday 7th April till Thursday 12th April. This time we will stay in York and explore some of Yorkshire.

Please do not forget that it is once again time to pay your membership fee. The fee remains the same.

		18:30	A Grandma’s JOGLE from End to End In April 2016 Susan Hausberger, a 65 year-old grandmother of 4, cycled from John O’Groats in N.E. Scotland to Land’s End in S.W. England - a distance of 1,673 km. and over 15,000 m. ascent - in just under 3 weeks. In her talk she brings some of her many experiences alive for us.
